1. Awareness

In order to fully understand Women’s History Month, we need to know why we celebrate it and bring awareness to ourselves and others. The best way to bring self-awareness is by studying up on the month and the accomplishments and challenges women have faced throughout history. Then, share that knowledge. There is no better way to bring awareness than by educating others on what you've learned and get a conversation started about not only Women's History Month but how women face challenges and overcome today.

Another way to raise awareness is using social media. Social Media is the most common way to spread information these days. The powers that Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok hold are limitless. Creating and sharing posts about women all month long is a great way to get others involved and interested. You might even teach someone a thing or two along the way.

2. Support women-led businesses

One of the best ways to celebrate Women’s History Month is to support other women. We can do this by shopping at and visiting women-owned or women-led businesses wherever you’re located. Here in Charlotte, we have some amazing ladies that run outstanding businesses. Check out just a few below:

3. Host an event

Hosting an event will not only raise awareness of the cause but can help family and friends celebrate each other. Some great event ideas for Women’s History Month include:

● Host a movie night with films or documentaries created by female directors or female leads, or about women's stories of overcoming challenges and succeeding.

● Throw a dance party with popular female music artists.

● Host a book club featuring female authors.

● Host an at-home or neighborhood art crawl showcasing art by female artists.

4. Write ‘Thank You’ notes to women that have inspired you

Share some love with women who have inspired you in some way -- a teacher, parent, relative, friend, boss, colleague, or any woman who has made an impact on your life. Taking the time to sit down and write a handwritten note to someone is one of the best ways you can show gratitude. And, it's a great way to bring some happiness to women facing daily challenges. Sending a text or an online message is great, but the rarity of a handwritten letter adds that special touch.

5. Join a women’s volunteer group

Choose an amazing women's volunteer group or non-profit to get involved in. Take some time to research organizations and groups out there that interests you or simply find one you think you’d have fun doing! You can be involved by attending meetings, hosting events, donating money, or planning a fundraiser to raise money for your chosen cause. Here's just a few of the excellent nonprofits/organizations led by women in the Charlotte, NC area:
